The Maintenance of Natural Sports Turf Surfaces for Rugby and Football is a Lantra accredited training course delivered by instructors with significant professional grounds management experience, from parks pitches to World Cup stadia. It provides an overview of the processes, machinery and equipment required to produce and maintain high quality playing surfaces for winter sports, with an emphasis on health and safety throughout.
The one-day course is a theory-based: no practical work takes place on the day, but time is spent out on the pitch taking a closer look at the machinery and equipment, discussing its condition and maintenance, and any particular challenges based on a core soil sample taken at the time. It can be extended to two days to include practical work out on the pitch. The course is tailored to your site, equipment, and the knowledge and experience of your staff, so you’ll receive general information as well as advice and guidance specific to your own particular venue.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
• Understand the role of the groundsperson in sport
• Have a basic understanding of the Health & Safety relevant to the industry in conjunction with industry best practices
