Our Bowling Green Maintenance course for flat and crown bowling greens is accredited by Lantra Awards. It is designed specifically for volunteers and part-time greenkeepers to enable them to grasp the basic needs of a bowling green surface throughout a 12 month period.
The Bowls England Greens Maintenance Scheme offers bursary funding for this course to affiliated clubs. Click here for further information.
The one-day course, delivered by an experienced turf professional, is theory/classroom based
and does not include any practical work, although time will be spent out on the playing surface to
consider and discuss its condition and underlying structure. There is an option to add a practical day if you wish to put the learning into practice with the aid of an instructor. Although the course content is structured, the delivery is informal and learners are encouraged to participate.
It covers;
- Health & Safety
- Pre-season preparations
- Maintenance operations
- Preparation for play
- End of season renovations
- Winter maintenance
Participants receive a comprehensive workbook and on completion, a Lantra Awards Certificate of Training.
