A high percentage of accidents involving lift trucks are where operatives are where they shouldn’t be and are struck, and seriously injured. Others occur because of bad practice and unsafe working environments.
The law requires supervisors and managers to provide adequate supervision to operatives/teams, so it is essential that supervisors and managers have enough training and knowledge to recognise safe and unsafe practices, to understand the risks involved and how to avoid or prevent them. This course aims to give the supervisors and managers of lift truck operatives the knowledge to direct their teams safely, ensure that the lift truck operations area is set up correctly, and give them a basic knowledge of lift truck features and how these impact safe lift truck operation.
By the end of this course learners will be able to:
- Use theoretical and practical knowledge to recognise, prevent and correct unsafe practice resulting from the use of lift trucks
- Use the information and knowledge to assist in ensuring your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by the use of lift trucks
- Understand your legal responsibilities as a supervisor or manager
- Be aware of the main areas of the risk involved with lift trucks
- Identify good and bad practice
- Safeguard your business and reduce the risk of damage to your assets
This course is training only. Upon completion learners will receive a Lantra Awards Certificate of Training.
