Introduction to Engines

This one day course equips learners with the knowledge and skills necessary for maintenance of the engine components of their mowers.

It enables learners employed in horticulture, landscaping and turf maintenance to work safely and effectively on the engines of mowers. Working with an experienced instructor, learners first cover all the theory to ensure they understand mower engines. Following practical demonstrations, they then progress onto practical sessions to identify engine components, learning about best practice in engine maintenance and how to locate common faults through testing.

The course content includes:

  • Engine safety
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Engine introduction
  • Engine diagnostics
  • Engine fault troubleshooting

This is an integrated training and assessment course. Upon successful completion learners will receive a Lantra Awards Certificate of Competence.
